The Amitayus Home Hospice Service, located on Bundjalung country in northern NSW, was established in 1994. Our mission is to provide support and care for those with a life threatening illness and who wish to be cared for at home.
Caring for a loved one with a debilitating illness at home can place enormous emotional and physical demands on family and friends. Through our trained volunteer carers we provide a range of support services, to make staying at home a viable alternative.
We provide training courses for our volunteer carers, and also run ‘Last Aid – Care for the Dying’ course through Byron Community College.
Our services are provided free of charge.
Amitayus Home Hospice Service acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live and work, the Arakwal people of the Bundjalung Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge that Indigenous people never ceded sovereignty of this country and remain strong in their enduring connection to land, water and community.
We are committed to ensuring our services are safe, respectful, equitable and inclusive to all people, their carers and their families.
We welcome diversity and work with anyone of any race, faith, cultural background, age, ability, gender identity and sexual orientation.
